"The Camera Store" goes hands-on with the Fuji X100 (outfitted with a 35mm equivalent F/2 fixed-lens) but they never get around to answering two central questions about this camera: how fast is the autofocus and how does the sensor compare to mid-line DSLRs (especially at high ISO). Without these details, there's no way to know if there's anything impressive about this camera versus its mirrorless competitors (Nex/NX), most of which are half the price and offer interchangeable lenses. The leaf shutter they discuss several times is interesting and the hybrid overlay not so much (plenty of electronic detail has already been available for years just below optical viewfinders). This camera is going to be introduced at $1,200. That's close to the price I paid for a Canon 7D and near what you might spend on a Nikon D7000 or a Pentax K-5. So far, I'm still of the opinion that this looks like an expensive toy. Good for Leica wannabes who can't afford to go all the way (and in truth, a better camera than the more expensive Leica X1 which it is mimicking).
March 5 Update: An early review of the Fuji X100 is summarized here.
