The same rumored specs for the Canon 5D Mark III have been coming up again and again and they look awesome: 22 megapixels, 61-point autofocus, full-frame, 6.9 frames per second. If those are correct, the Canon 5D Mark III will be the closest thing on the market to a successor to the Nikon D700. For me, those specs are ideal. The 5DII is a nice camera but the main things it is missing is functioning autofocus points outside the center and more frames per second. The last thing I need is more megapixels causing focus limitations, reduced frames per second, smaller buffers, increased file handling time and diffraction. I'm more concerned about the quality of the resolution than the size of the resolution. For stellar quality, I need accurate focus, fast frames per second (I'm a sports and action photographer) and great high ISO ability. February 28 March 2 is the anticipated release date.
Canon Rumors says non-disclosure agreements are circulating with a March 2 deadline. I hope the rumored specs are correct. If Canon surprised us with a flash trigger inside the camera, too, I wouldn't mind. But my main request is to bump up the focus speed and continuous shooting. I know the Canon 1D X is looming but some of us don't have $6,800 in the budget.
