The NCAA women's gymnastics teams from the University of Minnesota, Winona State University, Hamline University and Gustavus Adolphus College competed at the Best of Minnesota event at the University of Minnesota's Sports Pavilion on February 11, 2012. The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers came in first place in vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise, finishing with a strong lead overall. Winona State University finished second in total and in each of the four events.

The Gophers sports website reported: "The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team showcased why they are the best in Minnesota Saturday by scoring a season-best score of 195.425 at the annual Best of Minnesota meet. The Gophers were guided by sophomore Kayla Slechta, who tied three season-best scores and set a new all around superlative of 39.200."
