While it should be flattering to find your photograph on the back cover of a magazine as illustrious as Time Out Shanghai, it is less so when that photo is stolen. Such is the case today when I discovered that a photo I took six weeks ago has been featured in a full-page advertisement for Chinatown Shanghai without my knowledge or permission (re: "La Cage: Hosted by Borja Mata").
The picture is also featured on the main page of the Chinatown Shanghai website (screen capture above). Stealing a photo is no different from picking a mobile phone out of someone's pocket on the subway or snatching a bicycle from their home. The end result is the same. The photo in question was originally published on City Moments with my name, copyright notice and website information attached and it would not have been difficult to contact me had anyone so desired. I offer reasonable rates for photo licensing. What's worse, they published the photo in Time Out with poor resolution so it doesn't even look good.
